Finally Going to Thailand!

Hi everyone, my name’s Tim, and this is officially my first travel blog.
Me and my friends have been talking about doing something big for years, and we finally pulled the trigger — Thailand. One week off work, four idiots with backpacks, and zero plans besides “see something cool and not die of food poisoning.”

The crew:

Tom – the loud one, ex-football player, built like a fridge but scared of spiders.

Pete – the planner. Works in IT. Always has spreadsheets.

John – quiet guy, takes photos of everything, edits them later like he’s running National Geographic.

Me, Tim – 29, can barely manage an Excel sheet, but apparently good at writing, so this blog’s mine.

We met up at Southwest Florida International Airport on Monday evening. I was first there, which never happens. Guess I was just hyped — first time I’ve ever left the States. I was sitting near Gate D3 when Tom came jogging up with that grin like he just robbed a Taco Bell.

“Yo man, you look excited AF,” he said, dropping his bag next to mine. “You look like me when I got my first Xbox.”

I told him he was late, as usual, and he said something about traffic and bad directions. Ten minutes later Pete showed up — clean haircut, same black hoodie he wears every day — and then John, who had that camera strap around his neck before even greeting us.

We were like kids. Laughing, talking about Thai street food, temples, beaches, you name it. Pete had a “secret location” he wanted to visit: a waterfall he found online, somewhere deep in Ubon Ratchathani Province. He said it wasn’t on Google Maps — something about an “unmarked trail.”

Tom wasn’t thrilled about hiking. “Bro, I thought we were hitting the islands,” he said, but Pete swore this place would be “the highlight of the trip.”

During the flight, which was long as hell, Pete leaned across the aisle and said, “You guys sure it’s a good idea traveling during monsoon season? The sea’s gonna look like soup.”

John didn’t even look up from his camera. “We’re not going to the beach,” he said. “We’re going to the mountains.”

Pete smiled. “Exactly.”

At that point, I figured — whatever, adventure’s adventure. I closed my eyes and imagined green jungle and clear water. Couldn’t sleep though. I felt that weird excited anxiety you get before something big.

I’ll update this once we land. Right now, the flight map says we’re over the Pacific. Feels unreal.
